I finally found an application that let you connect to an ad-hoc network. (actually you create one, and you connect to it from another pc/laptop)
You need only a rooted HTC Desire ROM (I’m using StarBust for the moment).
The downsides are:
- You might have to manually refresh the screen (press menu, choose refresh)after some operations.
- Sometimes the phone seems to dislike the idea of joining existing adhoc networks. If the adhoc connection doesn’t seem to work try a different ESSID
You can download the application from here
After installing the application, it will disable your Wi-Fi from the Wireless & Networks menu, but you’ll be able to create an ad-hoc network from the app (the first time you need to give it permissions like 5-6 times). After creating the ad-hoc network, just connect to that network from a computer that has internet connection sharing on wireless, and voila . The bad thing is that you can only surf on the internet via your web browser.. You can’t install things from market, synchronize wheather.. or any other stuff.
*While you have the ad-hoc mode on, you can’t enable the Wi-Fi from the menu.. you have to disable the ad-hoc mode first, and the enable the Wi-Fi
